Abortion Is Murder, But Women Aren’t Murderers

“It’s not human until it’s born.”

Instead of “human,” the baby in the womb is called words like “glob of tissue”…

Is the boy in the womb not considered human because he’s still inside his mother?

If so, than:

That’s insulting to women, is it not? Saying that something is not human because it’s in a woman’s body.

Does that mean that a man ceases to be a human being during the period of time that he is inside a woman during sex?

Is the boy in the womb not considered human because his body parts, like his brain, nervous system, and heart, aren’t fully developed yet?

If so, than:

That’s insulting to people who have received a heart transplant, is it not? For the period of time between when that person’s heart was taken out and a new heart was being put in, did that person cease being human because they had no heart?

What about Case, the protagonist of William Gibson’s science fiction novel Neuromancer? Is he not a human being because his nervous system was crippled?

What abort a girl with half a brain? Is she half a human being?

Is the boy in the womb not considered human yet because he is dependent on his mother to live?

If so, than:

That’s insulting to conjoined twins, is it not? Because a person cannot survive if separated from another person, that means they’re not human?

My point is:

For me, the line “It’s not human until it’s born,” like a woman in labor, doesn’t hold water.

(“Doesn’t hold water”: Doesn’t stand up to scrutiny.)

Let’s say that the unborn child in the womb is a human, not a “glob of cells.”

Does that mean women seeking abortions are murderers?

I would say “No.”

This is why:

I can’t stand it when people have no sympathy for women faced with one of the hardest choices a person can make.

Their lack of sympathy goes against my beliefs as a Catholic:

“Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.”
~John 8:7

“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
~Romans 12:20 — 21

“Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.”
~1 Peter 4:8
