Note: This post contains artistic portrayals of male and female nudity.
The purpose of this post is to share what I have learned so far about modesty, lust, the human body, seeing people as human beings, and treating people respect and love.
Feel free to share what you’ve learned about these subjects in the comments section. This post is all about helping people see themselves, and others, as the human beings they are.
What I have learned:
1. Women (and men) are more then their bodies.
2. The human body is “very good.” (Genesis 1:31)
3. Modesty is not so much about what a person wears, as it is about how a person acts.
3-A: Clothing does play a part in being modest: Clothing that draws attention to body parts is immodest, because such clothing is implicitly saying, “This body part is the most important aspect of a person.”
3-B: A naked woman can be as modest as a woman covered from head to toe.
4. Clothes will ultimately not stop a person from looking at another lustfully. For example: I could just as easily fantasize about a woman dressed in her Sunday best as I could about a woman dressed in a bathing suit. What matters is the choice that I make: To lust, or not to lust?
“I choose to not lust!”
